The crypto meme community is the best part of the entire industry, and not just for the potential financial rewards. The camaraderie and memes are second to none, and communities like El Hippo often blow up overnight to massive proportions. This often attracts a lot of attention, including attention from scammers. Phishing Attempts
Unsolicited calls or messages from callers saying “Help Desk” or “El Hippo Tech Support” are likely scams. If you want to contact us, do so directly via Telegram or our contact form. We will not contact you from anywhere other than our official social media accounts. We will not ask for your wallet seed phrases or account passwords.
It’s very common for scammers to pose as tech support (to answer questions you didn’t ask!) or to get in touch saying you’ve suddenly won some crypto. Do not give these people your funds or information that could be used to steal your funds, and if in doubt, ask an official source at El Hippo.
Fake wallets, escrows, wallet connecting services, and other services requiring you to give scammers your personal information or wallet info are very common, so stay frosty. Do not click links from suspected scammers.
We will probably never try to contact you directly unless we’re answering a question you asked us. Be wary of new accounts, accounts with no profile pictures, accounts that generally do not participate in the discussion online. True El Hippo fans are here to hang out, share memes, and have real conversations.
Safety Steps
If you think you’ve accidentally given scammers information that could be used to steal your funds, here’s what to do.

- If possible, withdraw funds from that wallet and transfer to a new, secure wallet
- Keep your new details safe – write passwords down on paper and store them in person rather than keeping those details online
